During a practice session on Monday, Pakistan captain Babar Azam and all-rounder Imad Wasim engaged in an intense discussion. A video circulating on social media captured the moment when Naseem Shah intervened, defusing the tension and preventing any escalation between Babar and Imad.
Speculation arose regarding a rift between Babar Azam and Imad Wasim following the latter's critique of the Pakistan skipper's leadership during the 2023 ODI World Cup hosted by India.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam's squad is set to face Ireland in T20Is, followed by four matches against England as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to be held in the USA and West Indies. Pakistan finds themselves grouped with co-hosts USA, India, Ireland, and Canada for the tournament commencing on June 2.

Additionally, Pakistan has undergone changes in their support staff, with the appointment of Gary Kirsten as their new white-ball coach. Gary Kirsten has also worked with India and helped the team win the 2011 ODI World Cup trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

In a conversation with Star Sports, Hardik Pandya expressed his inclination towards shouldering responsibilities, as it helps him foster a deeper personal connection with his duties. He emphasised his commitment to taking ownership of his actions, including mistakes and viewing them as opportunities for growth and learning. Pandya underscored the significance of experiencing something firsthand, highlighting its superiority over other sources of guidance, whether from peers, mentors, or even cricketing stalwart MS Dhoni.
"Responsibility-wise, I was always someone who wanted responsibility because when you own your things, it kind of becomes more personal to you. So for me, it was always about owning my mistakes and at the same point of time taking those chances, maybe failing and learning. That experience no one can teach you - not your closest aide, not your idol, to some extent not even Mahi Bhai when he was around," Hardik Pandya said on Star Sports.
"Some failures you experience and then learn. Because of that, I think, I started understanding what are the roles and what are the roles I am good at, how I can get better at that," Hardik added.
Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians have not been able to perform well in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mumbai Indians have played a total of 11 matches in IPL 2024 thus far and have won just three. MI's batting department has faltered on multiple occasions, while their bowling has also been below par barring a few exceptions.

Mumbai Indians are effectively out of contention for the race for IPL 2024 playoffs. While MS Dhoni's presence often excites the fans, there occurred an incident during the CSK vs PBKS match which did not sit well among fans. On the third delivery of the final over of CSK, bowled by Arshdeep Singh, Dhoni made a decent connection and sent the low full-toss to deep cover, it was an easy single and Daryl Mitchell had covered the entire distance. He reached the other end with the intention of taking a quick single and possibly two, but to the surprise, MS Dhoni sent him back. Mitchell rushed to the non-striker's end and got there. A direct hit would have gotten his wicket. Thus, Mitchell ran two but not a single run was added to the scorecard.
